My beloved, good Surale ת'!
I received your letter today. My heart breaks when I think of your great pain. In the eyes of השי"ת we must no doubt have deserved this, that you, my sweet lambs, should have lost, at such a tender age, what was dearest and most beloved. You were not even mature enough yet to appreciate what we possessed. Nevertheless, my good child, we must, because we are among the living and cannot undo what has happened, master our pain and not mourn excessively.
Zwi נ"י looks good. He is tall and makes himself understood here very well because he speaks Slovakian. He also speaks Hebrew well and often lectures in Hebrew. His external needs give me a lot to do. This is not the place for bringing up a child. He does not sleep in the same ship as I do. The whole day one is closely packed together with strangers. Even though it is very pleasant on deck, in the long run it still becomes unbearable. They have now taken away our hope of soon reaching our destination, at least not before פסח . Besides being so cramped, our ship has fellow occupants – a lot of rats and mice. You can’t imagine how unpleasant that makes it.
A person can tolerate a lot. I am really stronger than I had thought. I also expect of you, my precious children, that you will defy your fate and that you will remain healthy and strong for me. Also virtuous and religious, as your parents have always wished.
As far as concerns Tuli נ"י, I cannot advise from here what kind of work should be considered for him. Please write to me the exact truth as to how, why and for what purpose Tuli נ"י came to Bournemouth? From Esti ת' I have so far only received one card of 22 February. I think a lot about that.
I kiss you as well as dear Recha ת', together with the sweet children שיח'.

Mein geliebtes gutes Suraleת" !
Deinen Brief habe heute erhalten. Wenn ich mir Deinen grossen Schmerz vorstelle zerreisst mir das Herz. Sicher haben wir uns das verdient beiהשי"ת , das Ihr meine suesse Schaeferlech das teuerste und liebste in so zarten Alter verloren habt.Ihr ward noch nicht einmal so reif zu ermessen was wir besesen haben.
Trotzdem mein gutes Kind leb, muessen wir weil wir unter den lebenden sind und das Geschehene nicht ungeschehen machen koennen Herr unseres Schmerzen werden u. nicht zuviel traueren.
Zwi נ"י sieht ganz gut aus. Er ist gross und verstaendigt sich hier ganz gut weil er Slowakisch kan. Hebraeisch spricht er auch gut, er traegt oft vor in hebraeischer Sprache. Seine Auserlichkeiten geben sich viel zu schafen. Es ist hier nicht der Ort fuer Erziehung. Er schlaeft nicht im selben Schiff wie ich. Den ganzen Tag ist man dicht an fremde Leute gedraengt. Wenn auch am Deck sehr schoen ist wird es doch mit der Zeit unertraeglich. Jetzt hat man uns die Hoffnung genommen bald unser Ziel zu erreichen, wenigstens nicht vor פסח .Auser der grosse Engschaft haben wir in unseren Schiff Mitbewohner – viele Ratten und Maeuse. Ihr koent Euch nicht vorstellen wie unangenehm das wirkt,
Der Mensch kan viel aushalten. Ich habe wirklich mehr Kraft als ich dachte.. Ich erwarte auch von Euch meine teuere Kinder dass ihr den Schiksal Trotz bieten* wird u. mir gesund u. stark bleiben wird. Auch gut und from, wie der Wunsch Euerer Eltern immer war.
Wegen Tuliנ"י kan ich von hier nicht raten welche Arbeit komt in Frage fuer ihn? Bitte schreibe mir genau die Wahrheit wieso, warum ? zu welchen Zweck Tuli נ"י nach Bournmouth gekommen ist. Von Esti ת" habe bis jetzt nur 1 Karte vom 22 II bekommen, ich denke viel nach.
