My precious beloved children עמ"ש!
We’ve been here for two weeks, and will unfortunately remain here for another 2-3 months because of snow and frost. We are 1000 people in 4 ships in the middle of the water. We are getting food ב"ה. Our coreligionists in Yugoslavia take a lot of trouble to help us. Zwi נ"י feels quite at ease ב"ה among the young people. They try to make the time pass as pleasantly as possible. There are classes for English and Hebrew. One day vanishes into the next. Hopefully we will live to see א"י1 and be reunited with you.
I have already written a number of times, but sadly I don’t know whether the letters arrive. Please send me cards with pre-paid replies, because we are penniless. I also strongly request you to send me 2 pounds, because it is awful to be without money, at least for postage and fruit for Zwi.נ"י I am not writing to you directly because I don’t have any address for you.
Dear Feigale תחי' please write to Aunt Hinde ת' in א"י that we are delayed here. Also, write to her that I received nothing in the Spiegelgasse. He used the excuse of the “9th of November.” My pleading and talking were of no use. I went to him every other day without any success. So everything has remained the way she left it. Aunt will surely be very curious to know where I am, but write to Uncle Piniuנ"י at the Mizrachi Bank because I don’t know whether Grosspapa נ"י is informed about everything. Write her my address so that she will write to me. They also don’t know in Eretz that Zwi נ"י is with us.
I beg you, all my precious children ש', to write to me, and to send Esti my address so that she should write to us. You cannot imagine what an effect receiving post from outside has in such a situation, especially from my beloved children שי'. Please also write to Nitra, since I don’t know whether they will receive my post.
This area is very pretty, nothing but mountains and snow. We are a few kilometers from the village and are not permitted to leave the ship. We’ve been on the water now for 5 weeks and are totally unprepared [for the conditions]. We should only be able, in good times, to retell this story.

Meine teuere geliebte Kinder עמ"ש
Wir sind hier seit zwei Wochen, und bleiben leider noch 2-3 Monaten wegen Schnee u. Frost da.
Wir sind 1000 Personen in 4 Schiffe mitten im Wasser. Wir bekommen ב"ה
zu Essen die Glaubensgenossen in Jugoslawien bemuehen sich sehr um uns. Zwi נ"י fuehlt sich ב"ה ganz gut unter der Jugend. Die suchen die Zeit so angenehm wie moeglich zu verbringen. Es wird Englisch und Hebraeisch unterrichtet. Es vergeht Tag um Tag .Hoffentlich erleben wir א"י zu sehen und mit Euch zusammen zu kommen.
Ich habe schon einige Mal geschrieben, ob es ankomt weiss ich leider nicht. Bitte mir Karten mit bezahlter Antwort zu schreiben, weil wir keinen Groschen haben. Ich bitte auch sehr mir 2 Pfund zu schicken, den es ist schrecklich ohnen Geld zu sein, wenigstens auf Porto und Obst fuer Zwi נ"י Ich schreibe nicht direct zu Euch weil ich keine Adresse von Euch habe. Liebes Feigale תח schreibe nach א"י zu Tante Hinde תי" dass wir hier weilen. Schreibe ihr auch dass ich in der Spiegelgasse gar nichts bekommen habe. Er hat als Ausrede benuetzt den “9ten November”. Mein Bitten und Reden hat nicht genuetzt. Ich bin jeden 2 ten Tag bei ihm gewesen ohne jeden Erfolg. Somit ist alles geblieben wie sie es verlassen hat. Die Tante wird sicher sehr neugerig sein zu wissen wo ich bin, aber schreibe zu Onkel Piniu נ"י in der Misrachi Bank weil ich nicht weiss ob der Grosspapaנ"י ueber alles informiert ist.
Schreibe ihr meine Adresse, sie soll mir schreiben. Dass Zwi נ"יmit uns ist weiss man in Erez auch nicht. Ich bitte Euch meine teuere Kinder ש" schreibt mir alle, auch der Esti meine Adresse, sie soll uns schreiben. Wie in einer solchen Situation ein Schreiben von Auswerts wirkt koent Ihr Euch nicht vorstellen., ueberhaubt von meinen Liebsten Kindern ש"י Schreibt auch bitten nach Nitra, weil ich nicht weiss ob die meine Post erhalten werden.
Die Gegend ist hier sehr schoen, lauter Berge mit Schnee. Wir sind einige Kilometer vor der Ortschaft und duerfen das Schiff nicht verlassen. Wir sind schon 5 Wochen am Wasser und ganz unvorbereitet. Wir sollen es nur noch in Freuden erzaehlen koennen.
