Children of my heart, precious Suri and Tuli שיחי'!
Yesterday I received the dear letter of 26 April. I also received a letter from Feigale ת' this week.
What is now happening with us is hard to describe. We received orders yesterday to clear two ships and to proceed to the small nearby town. Everybody got up at five, had breakfast, and packed their bags. We have nothing of value, yet everybody has a lot of bundles to carry, backpacks, bags, sacks and blankets, etc. At 12 o’clock everybody has to go ashore with all his baggage and receive further instructions.
The 5th May. I interrupted and am now continuing. We arrived in our apartment late in the evening. I was fortunate ב"ה, prior to lighting candles, to arrive into a totally empty room and I lit candles and spent שבת there. Last night I received a clean room for the two of us and so, after a long time, I slept in a bed once again. Nobody knows how long we will remain here.
It’s a very pleasant little town. Today I once again cooked for the community. They carried out a survey of who wants to receive the money to provide for themselves. I came forward, even though it is very little: 10 dinar per day, 18 dinar for two people, because the communal kitchen does not suit me.
I kiss you my sweet children, as well as Aunt Sara ת', Aunt Recha ת' and her dear children שיח', dear Gusti ת' together with Miss Judith, and to all the others I send best regards, even Srulek נ"י.

Mein Herzenskinder teuere Suri u. Tuli ש"ת ?
Ich habe gestern den l. Brief von 26 IV erhalten. Auch von Feigale ש"ת ?
habe diese Woche ein Brief gehabt.
Was sich jetzt bei uns tut ist schwer zu schildern.Wir haben gestern Befehl bekommen 2 Schiffe zu rauemen und ins nahliegenden Stadtchen zu gehen. Jeder ist um 5 Uhr aufgestanden, gefruehstueckt und die 7 Zwetschken werden gepackt. Man hat nichts wertfolles und trotsdem hat jeder viele Packel zu schleppen ,Ruecksaecke Paeck u.Saecke, Decken u.s.w. Um 12 Uhr muss jeder ans Land gehen mit dem ganzen Gepaeck u. die weitere Weisungen hoeren. Am 5.V . Ich habe unterbrochen und setze jetz fort. Wir sind spaet am Abend in unsere Wohnung gekommen, ich habe ב"ה das Glueck gehabt vor anzuenden der Kerzen in ein ganz lehres Zimmer zu kommen habe die Kerzen angezuendet, ueber שבת dort gewesen, Gestern Abend habe ein sauberes Zimmer fuer uns 2 bekommen. Habe also wieder einmahl nach langer Zeit in einen Bett geschlafen. Wie lange wir hier bleiben weiss kein Mensch. Es ist ein sehr angenehmes Stadtchen. Ich habe heute wieder gekocht fuer die Gemeinschaft. Es wird aufgenommen wer das Geld fuer selbstverpflegung haben will? Habe mich gemeldet, trotzdem es sehr wenig ist 10 Dinar pro Tag 2 Leute 18D. Weil die Gemeinschafts Kueche mir nicht bekommt.
Ich kuesse Euch meine suesse Kinder sowie Tante Sara ת Tante Rechaת u. l. Kinder[hebrew] die liebe Gustiת samt Frl. Judit, alle anderen gruesse ich bestens sogar Srulek [ ny] . Eure Mama
