My beloved, precious Feigale עמ"ש ת'!
I have not been so happy for a long time as I am today with your sweet picture. Ach! how great would be my joy to see you in reality. The photo caught you in a very favourable pose, and you have changed for the better. I thank you heartily for your birthday wishes.
We are very worried here with what has happened in Mariemcie’s מקום and next to it. What this כלב has caused, he should already be punished for our צרות .
Please write to me whether Leo נ"י and his brothers שיח' are at home, and Srulek נ"י?
You wrote to me concerning your expenditures. It is funny that I ask for an accounting from you, but I do always want to know exactly what all of you spend and what you have, because I have no other income לע"ע .
Tuli נ"י has not yet written to me about himself and what he does all day. Please send me his address where he stays. He always gives me the address of Uncle Berl נ"י, but he isn’t there. From Esti ת' I now receive post regularly.
It is not out of the question that we will move on next week איה"ש. That is the strong rumour, but we don’t believe it, especially now in the fire. However השי"ת will lead us, may it be for the good.
Does Auntie receive post from Brody? Has anyone heard from Aunt Ita ת'? What is happening with her Srul נ"י?
I have already asked you once: please answer about everything.

This refers to the invasion of Belgium and Holland. Mariemcie Schapira (see note to letter of 3 November 1939) was then living in Antwerp.
Kelev – dog. An allusion to Hitler.

Hashem Yisborach – G-d, may He be blessed.
The town in western Ukraine that Soroh Weinstock, Uncle Herschel’s wife, came from.
Jitte/Yita Horowitz, R’ Dovid Weinstock’s sister, who lived in Mielec, Poland.

Ich habe mich schon lange nicht so gefreut wie heute mit Deinem suessen Bild. Ach, wie gross waere meine Freude Dich in Wirklichkeit zu sehen. Du bist sehr gut getroffen und hast Dich zum Vorteil veraendert. Fuer Deine Geburtstagswuensche danke ich Dir herzlich. Wir sind hier sehr verzweifelt ueber den Vorgang im
Mariemcies מקום und daneben. Was dieser כלב anrichtet es soll ihm schon gezahlt werden fuer unsere צרות. Bitte schreibe mir ob Leo[NY] mit seinen Bruedern[Hebrew] zu Hause sind und Srule.[NY] ? Du schreibst mir wegen Deine Ausgaben, es ist komisch dass ich von dier Rechnung verlange, aber ich moechte doch immer genau wissen was Ihr ausgibt und was Ihr habt, den ich habe kein anderes Einkommen.[Hebrew] Tuli[NY] hat mir noch nicht geschrieben ueber sich was er den ganzen Tag macht. Schreibe mir bitte seine Adresse wo er sich aufhaellt. Er gibt mir immer die Adress von Onkel Berl[NY] an. Dort ist er doch nicht, Von Esti habe ich jetzt regelmaessig Post. Ist nicht ausgeschlossen dass wir naechste Woche אי"ה fahren. Man spricht stark aber wir glauben es nicht. Grade jetzt in den Bren Wie השי"ת wird fuehren soll sein zu guten Hat die Tante Post aus Brody ? Hoert man von Tante Jitta? Was ist mit ihr Srul[NY] ?
