My ardently beloved children עמ"ש!

Your letter, so precious to me, of 30 October 1940 which you wrote to dear Sali ת', arrived by way of Mrs. Dr. Engelsrath ת'.  It would be superfluous to describe my feelings on reading this letter. The Almighty should already bring us together לטובה .  I also thank the dear sisters-in-law שתח' for adding their messages. I am very happy that you are together. Do you look well?  Is Tuli נ"י as tall as Srulek נ"י? Do not worry about us. We have ב"ה the essentials, and we live, considering the circumstances, quite well. It is not impossible that Zwi נ"י will go to Eretz in a few weeks, because his certificate has now already been extended for the last time, until April, and they will surely make every effort not to allow the certificates to lapse. We are talking about 200 certificates. Have you made a request to Uncle Piniu concerning me?

I asked you to see to it that you also forward to me a letter from dear Esterl ת'. I have already written to you twice by direct airmail from here; did you receive them? In fact I did not direct it straight to your address but 4 of us wrote together in order to save on postage. That is how it is usually done here.

Oh, my sweet children, if only I could have just one single glance at you, to see how you all are in every way. Use the opportunity when you are together with Srul נ"י to learn עברית . I can understand that my dear Feigale ת' has no time. It is difficult because it is so far away from the shop. Nevertheless I am glad that she has this position. We are not allowed to accept any work here. I would very much like to do something. Only a lot of studying of עברית5 and English takes place here. Please write to us only in English. Matale ת' should also write to me a few letters of the alphabet. Does she still remember us? Does Judith ת' visit you often? Is the place where you are now living a town? When you write, see to it that everybody writes something. How does Tuli נ"י fill his time? Is he well behaved?  He should try to write to me in greater detail. I would advise him to write a lot of Yiddish as well as English on account of his handwriting. 

I have written in such a muddled way. I can unfortunately not concentrate while writing. Please excuse me.

I beg you to watch over my dear children in all respects. I especially ask dear Srulek נ"י to bring his influence to bear upon Tuli so that he may go בדרך הישר and that he learns. Please, please write to me the honest truth about how he is.
